How You Can Make A Conscious Purchase Too
I was shopping recently for dog food and poop bags for my rescue pooch Monkey. Then I had a big revelation in the store.
I will admit, I often purchase certain items based on their packaging. I love shapes and colors. I will buy a brand of juice or almond milk over another brand depending on the style of the container or the logo. Companies spend millions of dollars to get our attention, thus our money. Chances are you have your favorite products and often times you may buy without really looking closely at what you are purchasing.
Today as I reached for the typical bag of blue poop bags, another package caught my eye. This one was green and brown. It was nothing special, but I loved the little dog character on the front of the package, so I took a closer look. The brand earth rated -never stop wagging was unique.
First of all, the company does not test any of their products on animals. They boast they are a team of pet owners and animal lovers. Secondly, their packaging is made from recycled materials and they use recycled paper cores for the rolls instead of plastic ones. In addition, their packaging and cores can be recycled after use. If you really want to get particular, earth rated also sells white colored, certified compostable bags that are vegetable starch-based and approved by The Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI).
In 2017, some 68 percent of all households in the United States owned pets. If you are one of them, I would encourage you to begin taking a closer look at what you are buying for your furry friend and not just what they eat and chew on. Let’s start making a conscious effort to purchase products made by companies that are being kind to the environment and that are cruelty-free.
