March is National Women’s History Month and to celebrate, we here at Be Kind & Co. are interviewing women who share our vision that kindness can change the world for the better.

Adeniz Villar is Creative Director and founder of Story Place Media, a boutique marketing studio that specializes in social strategy and content development for lifestyle brands. Adeniz is a storyteller at heart and started Story Place Media to help brands connect with their audience through visual storytelling.

1.  How do you define kindness?

I define kindness as the act of being thoughtful toward oneself and toward others.

2. How do you lead with kindness in your personal life?

I do this thing in the mornings where I say five kind things to myself. I believe it must start with us in order to be truly kind to others. I’ll say something like: “You’re smart. You’re thoughtful. You’re loving. You’re compassionate. You’re a great cook.” I say whatever comes to mind. It’s important for me to start off with being kind to myself because it sets me up to be kind to the people I encounter the rest of the day.

3.  What does it mean to you to support other women?

To support other women is to celebrate their successes instead of being envious of them, to be a listener when they need to talk things through with someone, to offer to help before they even ask and if they do ask, to be available to help.

4.  Who inspires you and why?

Hillary Clinton and Oprah come to mind right away. Hillary has been such a trailblazer and leader of the feminist revolution. She’s been criticized and judged and has not wavered. She’s truly a remarkable human being. And Oprah! My goodness do I learn from that woman on a daily basis. From her podcast to her interviews to her Instagram she has such a self awareness that I aspire to have. She too has overcome so many obstacles and continues forward. Both of these women despite the incredible hurdles they’ve faced practice kindness every single day and I love that about them both.

5.  What is your super power? (One to two words)

Good Eater 🙂
