I am grateful every day when I open my eyes and have a brand new 24 hours to experience. Lately, I have been thinking how easy I find joy in the small moments of life – things like slipping on my new fuzzy boots, or reading a fantastic book. I even find myself excited to to go to work, especially on Tuesdays to see a special friend.
Because these moments bring me joy, I want to share them with you. Nothing grand. Just a little acknowledgement of how each one makes me smile, learn, and grow as an individual. The best part is each one is also focused on kindness.
These fuzzy fantastically fun booties are my new obsession! Whether I wear them while walking my dog on a chilly morning, or slip them on with jeans to look stylish, it always makes me happy inside. Recently, I even took them to work to wear between shows instead of my high heels. Between us, one of the main reasons I am proud to wear these boots is because they are vegan.

My sweet Mom gave me a book for Christmas this year. It is entitled ‘The Power of Kindness.’ I didn’t know what to expect, but I have been pleasantly surprised by the content. Author Piero Ferrucci does not talk fluff in this book. In fact, the book includes topics on gossip, forgiveness, and honesty. He even admits that kindness itself might seem lightweight, yet he believes it is a central factor in our lives and says kindness has “surprising power to transform us.” I highly recommend this book, even if you use it to feel better about our world.
Have you ever had a friend who you just want to hug and giggle with all the time? Suzanna Melendez is that friend for me. Suzanna and I know each other from work at KTLA 5 News. She is one of several makeup artists at the station and is also a cosmetologist. I would describe Suzanna as a giver. She seems to always think of how she can help you on your path. She and I share a love of skincare and she will often bring me serums, lotions and products she thinks will benefit me. Suzanna is also that gal who never says a bad thing about others. Simply being around her brings me joy. Do you have a Suzanna?
